UPCOMING EVENTS
Bay Kayak Anglers is now a division of Tauranga Fish & Dive Club. This gives us full membership to their club which gives us all their events to attend,
while retaining some autonomy to arrange our own events and competitions. They have a fantastic club room and facilities, including bar & kitchen,
next to the public boat ramps at Sulpur Point. Every Friday from 5pm till approx 9pm and Sunday from 4:30 pm till approx 9pm, the club is open to members for
socialising and a meal. The club is in the process of upgrading the kitchen to commercial standards and now has a chef, meals generally cost $10.
Membership Draws
On Fridays around 6:30pm & Sundays at 6:00pm, there are multiple membership draws. Depending on jackpots, each draw is for $100
except the last, which will be between $25 &$100.You have to be there to win if your name is drawn, and after each draw, you go back in
for the next. This means you could win multiple draws in one night. If the member drawn is not there, the money jackpots up to $500 at
which point, they keep drawing until some one wins.
If you go to this link it will show you where the clubrooms are, if you're not sure of the area.
You will see a square roof with a slightly lighter coloured veranda round it, above the boat ramps in the picture.
To become a member, you can click on the link above to print out a membership application, or fill one out at the clubrooms.
The joining fee is dependant on when you join, and is listed on the back of the application form at the club as well as here.
The full annual fee for a family membership is $50 a year starting in August, plus an initial establishment fee of $20.
AUG $50 +$20=$70,SEPT $45-85 + $20 = $65-85, OCT $41-70 + $20 = 61-70, NOV $37-55 + $20 = 57-55, DEC $33-40 + $20 = $53-40,
JAN $29-25 + $20 =$49-25, FEB $25-10 + $20 = $45-10, MAR $20-95 + $20 = $40-95, APL $16-80 + $20 = $36-80, MAY $12-65 + $20 =$32-65,
JUNE $ 8-50 + $20 = $28-50, JULY $4-35 + $20 = $24-35**
** It is recommended that new members joining in July pay the fee for July of $24-35 plus the membership fee of $50 taking them through to August the following
year.
Hi-Vis hats have now been arranged as part of the start up pack which your $20 joining fee covers. You have the option of either a
Beanie, or a cap with ear and neck flaps, and the opportunity to purchase the other hat for $15. The two models will be on display at the
clubrooms, probably by mid July, if not at our next meeting. The hats will have our logo which you can view here on the front of them.
We have established a sub committee which so far consists of the following. Ross Haine - Chair Person, Grant Ardern - Secretary, Aidan Frew - Treasurer.
The decision was also made that where possible, our meetings would be held on the second Tuesday of every month.
There will be instances where due to other bookings we have to move the meeting, but the meeting date and time will be posted on this web page.
We decided it would be a good idea to have our own safety officer and establish some safety guidelines specific to the needs of
kayakers. Shamus, who is heavily involved in the kayaking industry, has taken on this role.
The advantages of belonging to the club are clear. Networking with other kayakers, organised events including those already run by the parent club,
opportunities to crew on bigger boats, scheduled safety and surf meets so you can get out there with confidence, and club rooms so you've got a larger
audience to brag to about your catch.
